Sony認為隨身產品已成為時尚配件和個人表達的管道，提出為Y世代回應的流行趨勢定義，在此理念下誕生psyc理念推出橫跨卡帶、CD、耳機等各式隨身系列，'05年推出MD續作MZ-DN430~

本型號似乎為psyc所專用，並且psyc logo造型也不明原因改變，提供Stereo Black與Electric White兩色系，流線的裝飾與鏡面和高對比色彩點綴，打造出既前衛又華麗的流行搖滾風。

尺寸及性能規格可說是比較前作MZ-DN420，機身使用AA電池的高自由度，最大56小時續航，不過兼容性的反面就是30.7mm相對厚實的機身。

作為網路隨身聽的定位本身無法錄音，可透過USB與PC連結最大32x傳輸音樂(LP4)，此外無法以任何形式錄音，此外很遺憾的是不支援Hi-MD。 也不具備TYPE系列的音質優化功能。配件為簡單的軟體CD、USB線及匹配DN430色系的耳機，不具備線控操作。

音效面提供年代久遠仍具一定水準的Digital Sound Preset，高 / 低音可各自於-4~+3範圍內微調組合出最大64段音效，並搭載幾乎不跳音的G-Protection。

Sony held the belief that portable products had become fashion accessories and channels for personal expression. Under this idea, they defined a popular trend response for Generation Y, giving birth to the psyc concept, which launched a portable series spanning cassette, CD, and headphones. The MD follow-up, the MZ-DN430, was introduced in '05.

This model appears to be exclusive to the psyc lineup, and the psyc logo design seems to have changed for an unknown reason. It was offered in two color schemes: Stereo Black and Electric White. Streamlined ornamentation, mirrored surfaces, and high-contrast color accents create a style that is both avant-garde and glamorous, evoking a pop-rock aesthetic.

Its dimensions and performance specifications are comparable to its predecessor, the MZ-DN420. The unit offers great flexibility by using AA, providing a maximum life of 56hrs. The flip side of this compatibility, however, is a relatively thick body size of 30.7mm.

Positioned as a Network Walkman, the unit itself is incapable of recording. It can connect to a PC via USB to transfer music at a maximum speed of 32x (LP4). Furthermore, it cannot record in any format, and it is regrettably not compatible with Hi-MD. It also lacks the sound quality optimization features of the TYPE series. Accessories include a simple software CD, a USB cable, and headphones color-matched to the DN430; it does not come with a backlit controller.

In terms of sound effects, it provides the long-standing but still respectable Digital Sound Preset. The bass and treble can be independently micro-adjusted within the -4 ~ +3 range, allowing for a total of up to 64 steps of sound customization. It is also equipped with G-Protection, which virtually eliminates skipping.
