究極Jacket Size

"MD Jacket Size"，指的是空白MD碟片套匣的尺寸，MD之父的Sony將其定義為 w72 x h8 x d80mm，由於只比MD碟片多出數mm，自MD問世以來就像是上帝般的存在：只能言傳，無法見識~

不過以小型技術見長的Panasonic顯然不這麼認為，久違兩年後鎮重霸氣的大作以逆天黑科技實力讓夢想成真~SJ-MJ5、SJ-MJ7在標準尺寸下的72 x 80mm，不多不少成為MD初　MD Jacket Size機型，Panasonic並為此自創了"Just MD Jacket Size"名詞。而厚度雖談不上極纖薄的16.9mm不過在口袋機身尺寸上卻仍是年度王者。

松下電器號稱"集結了全社的技術力"開發的MJ7，機面採用比鋁硬度高出2.4倍的鎂合金(可能僅上蓋)，銀白機身上畫龍點眼的小巧視窗X映射出碟片色彩，特別的是MJ7S細緻的同心圓髮絲紋加工呼應光碟的科技意象，此為高精度的Circular加工技術，以µm單位在機身上蓋施加螺旋狀光澤，由於鎂合金與空氣接觸會氧化變色*，官方聲稱為此設計花了約一年時間於新素材加工與表面處理的研發，質感又大氣的造型做工，堪稱是年度最耀眼的巨星。

"MD Jacket Size" refers to the dimensions of the blank MD disc case, defined by Sony as w72 x h8 x d80mm. Since its inception, MD, like a deity, has been an intangible concept—heard of but unseen.

However, Panasonic, known for its prowess in miniaturization, thought differently after a two-year hiatus. With their bold new offerings SJ-MJ5 and SJ-MJ7, measuring 72 x 80mm—just the right fit for the standard dimensions—they coined the term "Just MD Jacket Size". Though not ultra-slim at 16.9mm, they dominate the realm of pocket-sized devices.

Panasonic Electric claims the MJ7, developed with "the collective technological prowess of the entire company," features a magnesium alloy (possibly only on the cover) that's 2.4 times harder than aluminum. The silver-white body with its subtly detailed window reflects the disc's color, while the MJ7S's finely concentric circular hairline finish echoes the technological imagery of the disc*. This high-precision Circular processing technology applies a spiral gloss in micrometer units on the body cover. Due to oxidation upon contact with air, Panasonic states that approximately one year was spent developing new materials and surface treatments to achieve this exquisite design, ultimately merging technology with material to achieve the ultimate sense of science and technology. The simple, textured, and atmospheric design craftsmanship also made the MJ7 a dazzling superstar of its time.
