Versatile
Sanyo, once a household name in the '70s ~ '80s, has now faded into obscurity. Despite joining the MD (MiniDisc) camp from the beginning, it remained relatively low-key and unknown.
Though categorized as a player, it excelled in all-around performance, rivaling that of a recorder.
Its design and layout are as precise and elegant as ideal feng shui principles. The elongated dual-line LCD screen features rare backlighting, displaying up to 16 characters in the upper row while simultaneously showing track, minutes, and seconds in the lower row, showcasing its impressive display capabilities.
The button cluster is seamlessly integrated beneath the screen, and this function-oriented design may have been conceived for easy operation when connected to home audio equipment. The semi-circular contour of the operation/display section adds an overall sense of rhythm and sophistication.
It boasts an impressive 12-second shock memory.
It comes with a detachable 3.5mm standard line control with basic functions, making it compatible with headphones from all brands.
The included Ni-Cd 900mAh rechargeable battery provides 2 hours of continuous use and supports an external battery pack (AAx 3), although it seems to add an undesirable level of bulk to the already hefty unit when used.
We appreciate any official MD information including specifications.
