有別於過往Sony總是非黑即白，非厚即重的科技阿宅形象，有點叛逆有點個性的MZ-E30誕生~

新型超小型光學頭同樣由鎂合金鑄造，比起前作MZ-E3質量-80%，厚度-30%。

新研發的LSI同樣與MZ-E3相較下，零件數-45%，耗電性-50%以下，僅需1.5V電力即可驅動，讓MD自誕生以來耗電的束縛在此正式解放~並藉此導入更為經濟輕薄的鎳氫充電片，15分充電有40%，60分即滿充電(4小時)的高效電力。

藉由以上不斷投入的新研發技術，讓以往總是多出一截收納電池的長形機身，首度以讓人亮眼的口袋大小的方形尺寸面世，也是MD初　Pocket Size機身。

擁有Player罕見的W螢幕設計(主機+線控)。主機有著小巧精簡資訊的液晶螢幕，配上大得刺眼MD Logo，整體造型顯得有些失衡，與亮麗機身格格不入的線控，可顯示曲名、曲目，電池與光碟狀態，也支援日文片假名顯示等..。

過往在形色上一向保守的Sony在E30難得嘗試了非常'秋"的變色龍塗裝，Sparkling Blue與Sparkling Orange隨角度變化的色彩過度，似乎也預告了即將百花齊放的MD世代~

Unlike Sony's traditional image of being either black or white, and bulky in the past, the MZ-E30 emerges with a somewhat rebellious and distinctive personality.

The new ultra-compact optical head is also crafted from magnesium alloy, with -80% in mass and -30% in thickness compared to the previous MZ-E3 model.

The newly developed LSI, when compared to the MZ-E3, sees a decrease in the number of components  -45% and a power consumption -50% or more. It operates with just 1.5V of power, liberating MD from the power constraints since its inception. Additionally, it introduces more economical and lightweight nickel-hydrogen rechargeable batteries. A 15-minute charge yields 40%, and a 60-minute charge achieves full capacity (4hrs) of efficient power.

Through the continuous investment in new research and development technologies, the elongated body that used to accommodate batteries is now presented for the first time in an eye-catching pocket-sized square shape, marking the introduction of the MD's initial Pocket Size body.

It features a rare W-LCD (main unit + remote control). The main unit boasts a compact and informative LCD screen, complemented by a striking MD Logo. The overall design may seem somewhat unbalanced with the contrasting remote control against the vibrant body . The remote control can display track names, titles, battery, and disc status, and also supports Katakana.

Breaking away from Sony's traditionally conservative design, the E30 ventures into a unique and 'autumnal' chameleon paint finish. The Sparkling Blue and Sparkling Orange exhibit color changes with different angles, seemingly heralding the vibrant era of the upcoming MD generation.
