新研發的超薄型3光束方式且厚度僅3.6mm的超薄型全息光學頭，光學頭組件機殼部(Pickup housing)為業界 初採用輕量、與強度兼具的鎂合金，比起多數的鋅合金質量比約1/2(12g→6.4g)，並提升驅動時省電與強度信賴性。

新研發的小型LSI單晶片，能信號處理編碼、解碼、數位伺服、壓縮、解碼，實現基盤面積小型化。

搭載滑順換碟體驗的薄型Slot in機構，有別於一般貝殼機構繁瑣的機蓋開開關關，僅需One Touch以水平向快速入 / 出光碟，並且入碟時即自動撥放的貼心設計，不過Slot In需要較多的空間占比機身也較厚重些。

液晶線控有著與整體不符比例的小巧螢幕，可顯示英/數/片假名，並採分離式3.5mm耳機接頭，完整支援所有品牌耳機更換使用。

此外提供4向供電選擇，支援4向供電(充電池、家用DC、外接電池盒、車用電源)。不過通常作為附屬品的外接電池盒(AD-SS70BC)則為選購配件(¥2,000)~

In contrast to Sony's traditional and formal Japanese-style design, Sharp employs slanted elements and embossed array decoration, delivering an unconventional yet elegant sensibility.

At the time of release, the astonishing 10-hour battery life left people amazed, marking the first time an MD achieved such a milestone.

The newly developed ultra-thin holographic optical head, using a super-slim three-beam method and measuring a mere 3.6mm in thickness, features a magnesium alloy for the optical head component's housing—a lightweight and robust material, a first in the industry. Compared to the typical zinc alloy, it weighs approximately half (12g→6.4g), enhancing both power efficiency during operation and structural reliability.

The newly developed compact LSI single-chip manages signal processing, encoding, decoding, digital servo, compression, and decoding, achieving a reduction in the board's footprint.

Equipped with a smooth disc-switching experience, the slim Slot-In mechanism simplifies the disc-loading process. Unlike typical shell mechanisms, it requires just one touch for horizontal quick disc insertion/removal, with the thoughtful feature of automatic playback upon disc insertion. However, the Slot-In design requires more space, resulting in a slightly bulkier and heavier device.

The LCD remote control features a proportionally smaller screen compared to the overall device, capable of displaying alphanumeric characters and kana. It adopts a detachable 3.5mm headphone jack, fully supporting the interchangeability of headphones from all brands.

Additionally, it offers a choice of four power sources: battery, home DC, external battery box, and car power. However, the external battery box (AD-SS70BC), typically offered as an accessory, is available for separate purchase (¥2,000).
