Indoor Audio Outdoor Portable I
Sharp, which was absent from the '94 scene along with Sony, introduced the MD-M20 after a year of preparation, emphasizing its all-around capabilities in recording, playback, and editing for personal and business use in various situations.
Sharp's designers seem to focus on creating a sense of quality with a minimalist and concentrated design. However, the functionality-oriented styling makes the overall appearance seem standardized, and the large and conspicuous main button highlights the substantial feel of the device.
Possibly due to being the first MD to feature a "Sampling Rate Converter," it supports recording in different digital formats such as BS satellite programs and DAT with varying frequencies.
It supports Mono REC, recording in monaural format, elevating the recording time of a 74-minute disc to 200% with a 148-minute capacity. In the early days when blank MDs were still expensive, this addressed the time pressure pain points for non -musical purposes like meetings and lectures.
Possibly the first MD to support the somewhat proud but not very practical input of katakana characters, it also offers powerful editing capabilities exclusive to MDs, such as track movement, merging, and splitting.
In contrast to Sony, which only had digital optical input / output terminals in the first generation of MDs, Sharp retained the luxurious digital optical input/output terminals and designed a separate 3.5mm earphone jack remote control , allowing users to freely choose their headphones.
Equipped with a lithium rechargeable battery, increased slightly to REC 2.5 / play 3.5 hrs. However, the trade-off is a longer 5-hour charging time (90% charge achieved in 2 hrs). Connecting the external large battery box (AAx 6) boosts REC 7 / 12 hrs in one go.
