Cross-Field of Old Brand
A completely unexpected MD player emerged from the renowned 20th-century record and audio brand RCA (Radio Corporation of America). RCA had established subsidiaries in Taiwan from '70~'92 and operated factories producing electronic products, appliances, and televisions in places like Taoyuan, Zhubei, and Yilan. However, the company later became the central figure in a severe case of land contamination due to the deliberate concealment of toxic substances by its management, leading to 1,375 cases of cancer among the affected individuals.
The overall design and common accessories suggest that this MD player was likely based on the Sanyo MDG-P1 prototype. Diverging from the conventional and understated Japanese design aesthetics, it embraced a European and American aesthetic with an unbalanced layout and generous white space. The front-end placement of the LCD screen gave it a sense of professional hardware control.
It came with a basic operation detachable 3.5mm standard line control that supported the use of headphones from various brands.
Powered by the same Ni-Cd 900mAh rechargeable battery as the MDG-P1, it could also be used with an external battery pack (powered by AAx3) and featured a two-stage Bass-Treble Boost audio effect."
We appreciate any official MD information including specifications.
